First of all, let me define what is “work immersion”. According to Academia.com “work immersion” refers to a part of Senior High School (SHS) Curriculum which consists of 80 hours of hands on experience or work simulation, which Grade 12 students will undergo to expose them to the actual work setting and to enrich the competencies provided by the school.
In line with this, here are my experiences during my work immersion in the Elementary Department of Philippine Christian University. In my first day, I and the other students who will also undergo work immersion had an orientation of what we needed to do and then after that we were assigned to different grade levels in Elementary. I and my classmate, named Rien, were assigned to Grade 1.

On my first day, I felt so nervous to the point that I can’t help over think of what could happen on that day. As the time goes by, everything went smoothly. I easily learned how to assist and teach my students their lessons. But as days passed by, it became more challenging for me because I needed to wake up early to go to school to start my immersion and after that I also need to attend my afternoon classes. I spend about 12 hours in school because of my work immersion and my afternoon classes.

My work immersion starts at 7:00 AM until 3:00 PM and I attend my afternoon classes in 3:00 PM and it ends in 7:25. That’s been my routine this past two weeks. That’s why when I go home I feel so tired. I stayed positive and continued to do those things because it helped me learn more.
I also learned a lot of things during my work immersion like being patient, learn how to interact with other people and to strive harder. It also helped a student like me to gain new knowledge and skills, to know more about themselves and to jump start their professional growth.
