To all of the people who are familiar with me, they know that I like to draw a lot and that I post my drawings on social media. When it comes to my classmates, whenever someone asks who likes to draw, it’s always my name mentioned. But, it wasn’t always that way. So, here I am talking about how I got into drawing and my main art inspiration.
First off, I wasn’t really into drawing when I was growing up. Sure, I made tons of doodles here and there and attended a couple of art classes back in the day, but it didn’t really stick to me much. Come May 2018 and I was curious about this anime that I’ve seen around tumblr. I didn’t know much about them except that the characters looked like a bunch of Nobitas from the anime Doraemon.

Around June 2018, I started to watch that anime. The anime was called Osomatsu-san. I didn’t really think much about it but I enjoyed it a lot.
Then, I came across the 2nd ending theme of it and the sequence where the characters were drawn inspired me to make fan art for the show because of how simplistic it was.

It took me a few tries to get the style right, but in the end I think I did well in pulling off the show’s style. So from July up until now I draw fan art for the show.

Around July to September, I was only making casual fan art for the show and posting them on social media. It wasn’t until October last year that I started to take my art seriously and so I started participating on Inktober. Inktober is an event for artists where they make drawings on every day of October. The Inktober I was participating in was not the official Inktober but it’s inspired by it and a character from Osomatsu-san called Jyushinktober which was an event by an Osomatsu-san fanartist called @clownmoontoon. This event made me motivated to draw more because I’d be making content for my 2nd favorite character (at that time) and that it’ll be relatively simple as I’d be drawing in that style.
Examples of my Inktober 2018 art:

After that event, I got more into the Osomatsu-san community and as of now it still compels me to create more art for this show and for other media that I like (even though I don’t post it much). As of now, I still draw and post a lot of Osomatsu-san fan art but I’m still improving my art skills to draw so much more of my favorites.
I might elaborate more on this topic sometime, but anyway, thank you for reading!
